One Ocean, One People 2007 Voyage to Micronesia and Japan A Celebration of Pacific Voyaging, Cultures, and Islands For journal entries, photos, and maps of the voyage, see the 2007 Weblog: One Ocean, One People: Voyage to Micronesia and Japan. The Polynesian Voyaging Society has explored the Pacific Ocean, visiting the islands of Polynesia as well as the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. In 2007, our voyaging canoe Hokule‘a will visit the western Pacific island nations of Micronesia and Japan. The 2007 voyage honors our historical ties to Micronesia and Japan and thanks each for their contributions to Hawai‘i. In addition, we expand our vision of global kinship, perpetuate our cultural heritage, encourage stewardship, and reach thousands of school children through educational programs. Our mission is to create a better world for our children. Just as on a canoe with limited space and resources sailing the vast ocean, so are we on this island earth. In the midst of this vast universe, we must learn to live well and with respect and caring for ourselves, each other, and our cultural and natural environment. Here are the Sail Plans. A Japanese Language Version of the PVS 2007 Voyages Weblog is available at aloha-street.com.
